PCPA

Stimulate brain activity and improve mental alertness

PCPA is ParaChlorPhenoxyAcetic acid or Fenclonine. It is used for depletion (lowering levels) of serotonin, which protects the brain against the neurotoxic effects of PCA or p-chloroamphetamine. This depletion of serotonin seems to create better responsiveness to the environment, according to various animal studies.

Serotonin neurotransmitter

Serotonin is one of the most important neurotransmitters that regulates many physiological processes, such as mood, memory function, learning, cognition, etc. Accordingly, it also affects many other body functions, from bowel movement to sleep.

While being very useful neurotransmitter, too much serotonin can cause a variety of health problems, ranging from fever, to diarrhea and seizures. Build up of serotonin levels happens with the use of certain drugs and medications. This is why PCPA is useful for depleting serotonin and preventing serotonin syndrome.

As one of the most important neurotransmitters, serotonin regulates many functions in the brain and the body, from learning and memory, to bowel movement and sleep. PCPA prevents build up of serotonin levels, which can cause many adverse effects on the body. (Image by Gerd Altmann, via Pixabay)

Stimulate brain activity and increase alertness

PCPA is one of the ingredients found in Centrophenoxine, where it acts jointly with DMAE to stimulate brain activity and improve alertness in older people. See also our Nootropics page where you can find more information about smart drugs. By increasing the blood flow to the brain, they stimulate and enhance brain activity.

PCPA is also known as Fenclonine. This is used to treat diarrhea caused by chemotherapy treatments of cancer patients. One of primary places where serotonin is found in the body is gastrointestinal tract, where it regulates intestinal movements.
